The internet is a dynamic, interactive medium. One of many popular uses for the internet is interactive media, particularly videos.
Google search results have recently evolved to include multimedia content embedded amongst the text results. This is called ‘universal search’ and includes news, books, images and videos appearing all through the search results.
Imagine how much more effective a colour thumbnail of a playable video is than basic text. Just Google something that is multimedia oriented (eg ’star wars’) to see this for yourself.
Interactive videos can simultaneously:
- Create new avenues into your website
- Promote your business
- Build your natural links (increasing your search rank)
- Build a recognised name/brand/service
- Inform and create awareness of your particular services or niche
- Make your website more attractive (if embedded on a web page)
Online videos are uploaded onto specific websites where they can be viewed and shared by online communities. It is important to understand the behaviour of these communities in order to optimise your communication. The users of these communities are put off by marketing that is too obviously a hard sell, or too much of an advertisement. They also appreciate something a little more irreverent and interesting – something that stands out.
