Have you ever wanted to track you Social Media and wondered how to do it?? Well I hope the following will guide you to help track and tag your tweets, banners, emails
Tagging emails: By sending visitors to http://www.redbuttons.com.au we need to append the following campaign tracking parameters for Google Analytics to record visitors coming from a link within the email. The tagged link will look like this:
http://www.redbuttons.com.au/?utm_source=panalysis&utm_medium=email&utm_content=link1&utm_campaign=redbuttons_oct09
Where:
| Campaign Variable | What it means |
| utm_source=panalysis | who is responsible for the campaign, in this case HCF |
| utm_medium=email | describes what is the creative such as email, banners, CPC |
| utm_content=link1 | used to differentiate advertisements such as several links within the email |
| utm_campaign=redbuttons_oct09 | campaign name |
Tagging Tweets:
a. Go to bitly: http://bit.ly/CUjV
b. Enter in the destination url + with campaign tracking variables
For example; www.whiteballoon.com.au should be tagged like
www.whiteballoon.com.au/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=namethecampaign
Where:

Metrics within Google Analytics?
Where do I find the metrics within Google Analytics?
a. Go to Traffic Sources > All Traffic Sources > Segment by Medium
b. You should see a line item for “email” or “social” and their associated metrics (and conversions if you have set up goals within the profile)
